The first in our series of songs responding to the current chart breaker, “Waiting On You” is a response to Morgan Wallen’s “Wasted on You.” Featuring the vocal talents of Malena, one of our roster vocalists, the song was a team effort for Bring My Song to Life, with lyrics and instrumentation composed by our in-house musicians.

“Waiting on You” takes the point of view of the woman Wallen broke up with in his Triple Platinum hit. Where “Wasted on You” draws on gravelly vocals and a driving, hip-hop bass line to reflect the drama of Wallen’s post-break-up angst, “Waiting on You” creates a softer post-break-up world, featuring pop-inspired harmonies and utilizing an acoustic chord progression to mirror the forward-driving bass of Wallen’s song.

“Waiting on You” highlights the disconnect between the two partners, with miscommunication and a mismatch of values that led to their break up. The two songs start in a lyrically similar place, pointing out how both sides of the couple are heartbroken over the breakup. As the breakup story is told, Wallen sings “Looks like I'm learnin' the hard way again, it's all my fault, yeah. I dropped the ball.” Our song, “Waiting on You” responds, “Looks like my heart’s been broken again. I want you, boy, I don’t understand, why you’ve given up.”

Every month, we will release a new song to respond to a current hit, created and performed by our in-house musicians. Our mission is to create unique, custom songs that bring a special moment to life, celebrate a special someone, or create a memorable experience for you and your loved ones. Stay tuned for next month’s song, responding to another popular hit!
